The Oxford Computer Science Conference is an annual event, usually held in the Department. Established in the early 1990's the conference was originally run by academics for the students and from 2004 the conference was run by the students for the students. In 2015 Research Staff were invited to take part making it a joint conference.
Current DPhil, MSc and 4th year undergraduate students together with research staff are encouraged to submit abstracts for talks or posters. Any research topic covered by the Department of Computer Science is appropriate and it is perfectly acceptable to submit work that has been presented or submitted elsewhere. P resentations in previous years have covered new results, selected material from MSc, transfer, or confirmation theses, or research proposals of general interest. The conference may also serve as an excellent forum for students approaching Transfer of Status to present their work to a new audience ahead of their viva.
The Programme Committee review all abstracts and will select talks from these for presentation. Students not ready to present a paper are encouraged to submit a poster.
There are cash prizes for the best talk, the best abstract and the best poster and the winners are announced by the key note speaker at the wine reception at the end of the conference. The conference is followed by a Dinner at a local venue which is open to all students, not just participants at the conference.
Oxford Computer Science Conference 2018 will take place on Friday, 1st June 2018.
