AXA Junior Research (Post-Doctoral) Fellowship:

Expressions of Interest: 30th October 2014

The call for Expressions of Interest for the AXA Junior Research Fellowship is now open. The mission of the AXA Research Fund is to fund basic research dedicated to a better understanding of important hazards, risks and threats and current global societal challenges within three clusters: socioeconomic risks, environmental risks and life risks. AXA intends to award a number of two-year postdoctoral fellowships worth €60,000/per annum. This will be a bottom-up scheme, with Expressions of Interest put forward, followed by an internal selection of the best candidate to be put forward on the 24th of November 2014. The nominee would then have until the 15th to submit their application outline for consideration.

Facebook Graduate Fellowship:

Facebook have announced they are now offering a two year award for their “Graduate Fellowship” scheme. Each fellowship award provides several benefits to cover the 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years, including:

• Tuition and fees will be paid for two academic years
• $37,000 yearly grant (up to two years)
• Visit Facebook HQ to present your research
• Opportunity for a paid internship at Facebook

The Fellowship Program is open to full-time PhD students (domestic and international) enrolled during the current academic year(s) and studying computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system architecture, or a related area.

Opening date: 20th October 2014
Closing date: 5th January 2015

New Data Management induction resources available

RDO-474x267The IT Services Research Support team is pleased to announce the release of a new version of their research data management induction resources.

The resources consist of short PowerPoint presentations (with comprehensive presenter’s notes), alongside an accompanying hand-out. They are designed to cover key issues and provide pointers for further information, and are ideal for use with new researchers (including postgraduate research students) or anywhere requiring a quick overview of the topic.
