EzjfWtzD
The 2015 British Federation of Women Graduates scholarship competition is now open. These awards are aimed at female doctoral students (PhD, DPhil or equivalent), and are given on the basis of academic excellence (demonstrated via in depth completion of the application form), referee reports and, for those shortlisted, brief presentations of their research to a panel of academics. The amounts offered in awards range upwards from £1000 with the average award being around £3000. The number of awards made each year depends on the funds available and on the quality of the applications but six to ten awards are usually given. The final selection is made in June/July of each year and awards are given out in October/November.

To be eligible, you must have begun full time doctoral studies between September 1st 2012 and October 31st 2013. Part time students should be in the equivalent of their third year of doctoral research in October 2015. Applicants should NOT be expecting to complete their theses before the end of February 2016.

The deadline for applications is the 27th March 2015.

BFWG Research Presentations Day 2015

BFWG

The British Federation of Women Graduates (BFWG) holds a Research Presentations Day each year, at which women postgraduate students are invited to give short presentations of their research work to a general audience. A prize of £100 is offered for the presentation judged ‘best’ in terms of quality of presentation and ability to communicate the subject to an educated but general audience.

Closing date for abstracts is Friday March 20th 2015

All undergraduates, postgraduates, members of BFWG and others who are interested will be very welcome to attend the day even if they do not wish to submit a paper.  There is no charge for  students, whether or not they are presenting a paper, but there is a charge of £10 on the door for others.  The Research Presentations Day is usually a good opportunity to meet other postgraduate women students and to look objectively at the presentation styles of others.  It can be a useful learning experience and an opportunity for networking.

Date: 16th May 2015
Time: All Day
Location: 142 Battersea Park Road, London SW11 4NB
