Department of Computer Science, Wolfson Building, Parks Road, Oxford.
Researcher on FADAMS: Foundations of Factorised Data Management Systems (3 posts)
Fixed-term for up to 2 years (from 1/6/16 or as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of extension for 3 more years)
Grade 7: £30,738 - £37,768 p.a.

The department has a superb new opportunity for up to 3 full-time Researchers on the FADAMS (Foundations of Factorised Data Management Systems) project, for up to 2 years, with the possibility of extension for a further 3 years.  Reporting to Professor Dan Olteanu, you will be a member of the Information Systems group, sponsored by an ERC consolidator grant.

The project aims to investigate fundamental challenges in scalable data management at the confluence of succinct factorized representations of relational data, distributed processing, and approximate processing of query and machine learning workloads, and build a system that incorporates the techniques and algorithmic insights on distributed and approximate processing of factorized data.

You will have a PhD (or very close to completion) in Computer Science, together with a strong publication record in at least one of the following: database systems or theory, distributed systems, algorithms, or machine learning.  Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project is highly desirable.

The post, which is a full time appointment, is funded by ERC and is available for up to 2 years from 1/6/2016 (with the possibility of extension for up to five years in total), has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (currently £30,738 - £37,768 p.a.).  This includes membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 6 April 2016.
