Fixed-term for up to 2 years (to start as soon as possible, with the possibility of extension for 2 more years)

Grade 7: £30,738 - £37,768 p.a.

The department has a superb new opportunity for up to 2 full-time Researchers on the FADAMS (Foundations of Factorised Data Management Systems) project, for up to 2 years, with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years.  Reporting to Professor Dan Olteanu, you will be a member of the Information Systems group, sponsored by an ERC consolidator grant.

The post holder(s) will be expected to collaborate with internal and external academic and industrial collaborators, publish research findings, design solutions to problems in the considered areas such as proofs of formal statements, design and implementation, testing and benchmarking. 

You will have a PhD (or very close to completion) in Computer Science, together with a strong publication record in at least one of the following: database systems or theory, distributed systems, algorithms, or machine learning.  Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project is highly desirable.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 22 July. Interviews are expected to be held in the week commencing 15 August 2016.

The post, which is a full time appointment, is funded by ERC and is available for up to 2 years as soon as possible (with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years), has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (currently £30,738 - £37,768 p.a.).  This includes membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
