One-week lectureship in software product lines

Services Contract

 

Applications are requested for a temporary lectureship in the Software Engineering Programme at the University of Oxford. The position is for the purposes of teaching a one-week professional course in Software Product Lines, in the week of 12th to 16th July 2010, on the part-time professional MSc in Software Engineering.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to provide pre-study material, six weeks in advance of the course; provide the course material, including appropriate exercises and solutions, three weeks in advance; lecture, teach, and demonstrate throughout the teaching week (0900  to 1700 Monday to Thursday, 0900 to 1230 Friday) and to  supervise the activities of a teaching assistant.

 

You will be a recognised expert in the area of Software Product Lines, with the authority to present a compelling course covering the whole syllabus (see http://www.softeng.ox.ac.uk/subjects/SPL.html): principles of product line engineering; feature-oriented domain analysis; generic, aspect-oriented, and feature-oriented programming; product line validation, testing, and management; model-driven development; industrial application.

You should have a doctorate in an area related to Software Product Lines.  Ideally, you will be currently active in research in the area, and a regular participant at and contributor to its conferences and workshops.  Alternatively, you might be an experienced practitioner in the field, and able to disseminate your experience through the course. Either way, it will be beneficial for you to have prior experience of delivering professional education in software engineering.

 

You will be paid a fixed fee of £3,000 (equivalent to grade 07S £29,983-£35,646) in arrears, for the complete and successful discharge of these duties.  National Insurance and income tax will be deducted from this payment, at source.  Employer's NIC will be paid by the University.
