We have an opening for a full-time Research Associates to work within the QUINTON Project for a fixed term period of 1 year, with the possibility of extension up to 1 additional year. We are looking for a highly-motivated scientist to conduct research within the team.

Under the supervision of Professor Michael Benedikt, you will have responsibility for carrying out impactful research on databases and computational logic. The QUINTON project is funded by EPSRC and is joint with Dr. Milos Nikolic at University of Edinburgh. You will work in close collaboration with our industrial partners, and other members of the team. The position could also include work on query reformulation, related to and funded by the PDQ project, if applicable to the skills of the candidate. We will support your career development, through supporting your scientific work, and also through attendance to conferences, student supervision and supporting applications for personal fellowships, as appropriate.

You should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (OR be close to completion) in Computer Science or related area, together with relevant experience and have a proven track record of publications. Researchers in computational logic or databases are welcome to apply, either applied or theoretically-oriented.

Whilst the role is a grade 7 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at grade 6 (£30,502 - £36,386 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly (for Grade 6, you would be expected to hold a Masters in computer science, or related discipline (or be close to completion). This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Monday 28th November, interviews are expected to be held in December.
