Sara Adams has won an Anita Borg Scholarship for the academic year 2008/09, worth EUR 5,000, after having been a finalist in 2007. She is currently working on a DPhil project on model checking.
Nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 31 countries applied for the award. Of the 63 finalists selected, 20 received a scholarship.
The Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship is given annually by Google to recognize outstanding young women scholars in computer science and related fields. The scholarship was founded to honour the work of Dr Anita Borg, a computer scientist who dedicated her professional career to increasing the participation of women and other under-represented minorities in the field of technology.
