Department of Computer Science
Research Assistant
Fixed-term for two years with the possibility of extension

Starting as soon as possible
Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 p.a.

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford has an opening for a Research Assistant at the postdoctoral level, for an initial period of two years, starting as soon as possible.

You would be performing research independently and in collaboration with Associate Professor Dan Olteanu on the topic of succinct representations of relational data, cf. the FDB project (http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/projects/FDB/). Collaboration with computer scientists at Google on using succinct data representations for distributed database systems is expected. More information on the project goals is available from dan.olteanu@cs.ox.ac.uk.

Candidates should have, or shortly be expecting to obtain, a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on databases, must have a solid record on building systems and/or on database theory, and a good publication record.

The post is initially available for two years and very likely extensible, has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (currently £30,434 – £37,394 p.a.), includes membership of the University pension scheme and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).

Further details of the post, including the selection criteria and method of application are available from:
