The Department of Computer Science proposes to appoint a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Computer Science (Databases) for a fixed term for up to five years from 1 April 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter (negotiable up to early October 2015). 

You would be a full member of the team responsible for teaching in a variety of subjects within the Department of Computer Science.  They should have a track record of research in the area of Information Systems, with a preference for research in databases.

Broadly the duties of the role will be:

  • To engage in excellent research within the broad discipline of Information Systems
  • To participate in the teaching and administrative work of the Department
  • To examine for the University when required to do so
  • To supervise, or assist in the supervision of graduate students as required

Departmental Lecturers are expected to engage in excellent research within the broad discipline of Information Systems. They are encouraged to apply for funding to support their research activities, and to get involved in the supervision of doctoral students.

You should have a doctoral degree in computer science (or be close to completion).   The successful candidate would be a full member of the team responsible for teaching in a variety of subjects within the Department of Computer Science.
