Research Assistants on NQIT (2 posts)
Fixed-term for up to 2 years (with the possibility of extension)

Grade 7; Salary: £30,434 – £37,394 p.a.

We are pleased to announce the opening of two full-time post-doctoral positions at Oxford University as part of the Networked Quantum Information Technologies (NQIT) EPSRC Quantum Technology Hub. The Hub will take some of the UK’s world-leading experimental work in ion traps and photonic networks and translate it into quantum computing technology through a highly ambitious and multidisciplinary programme.

The positions are within the theory groups of Prof. Abramsky and Dr. Barrett, focusing on the areas of small-scale quantum computing, secure communications, and the verification of quantum technology.  The work will support the overall theory, design, and applications development for quantum computing systems developed within the NQIT hub.  The successful candidates will be contributing to the research project plan as well as collaborating with other groups, including leading experimental groups within the Oxford University Department of Physics, and the theory group of Dr Elham Kashefi (School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh).

To apply you must have, or shortly be expecting to obtain, a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. You should also have a proven record of research, including strong publications, in at least one of the areas of quantum algorithms, quantum cryptography, quantum verification or high-level notations for quantum computation; a willingness to collaborate with experimental groups; excellent scientific writing ability and good communication skills; willingness to travel internationally.

The posts are fixed-term for up to 2 years, with the possibility of extension.  Interviews are expected to be held in early February.

Further details of the post, including the selection criteria and method of application are available from:
