Department of Computer Science, Wolfson Building, Parks Road, Oxford.
Research Assistant in Computational Cardiovascular Science
Fixed-term for 1 year
Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 p.a.

THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Research Assistant in Computational Cardiovascular Science, led by Professor Blanca Rodriguez.  The project aims to develop the computational models required to investigate the implications of inter-subject variability in the electrophysiological response of the human heart to drug action and disease conditions.

You would be expected to contribute to the development of the mathematical models and parameter estimation algorithms required to capture inter-subject variability in cardiac electrophysiological models, and simulation studies to investigate the impact of inter-subject variability in the electrophysiological response of the human ventricles to drug action and disease conditions.

You should have a PhD (or be very close to completion) in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematical Biology, and experience of working in computational cardiac electrophysiology and modelling and simulation of excitation contraction coupling in human ventricular cardiomyocytes.

The post, which is a full-time appointment, is funded by the Wellcome Trust, and has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (currently £30,434 to £37,394 p.a.). This includes membership of the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 25 February 2015.
