Researcher on Mobile Robotics: Enabling a Pervasive Technology of the Future

Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 p.a.
Fixed-term for 3 years from 1 August 2015 (with possibility of extension for 2 additional years and promotion to Grade 8 depending on performance and track record in establishing an independent research profile).

An opportunity for a full-time postdoctoral Researcher has arisen to work on “Mobile Robotics: Enabling a Pervasive Technology of the Future”, a 5 year collaborative project between Professors Paul Newman and Ingmar Posner (Oxford’s Engineering Science) and Professors Niki Trigoni and Marta Kwiatkowska (Oxford’s Computer Science). The post is in the area of quantitative verification and synthesis under the direction of Prof. Marta Kwiatkowska, and will contribute to the Safety, Trust and Integrity Theme.

You will be developing novel quantitative verification, strategy synthesis and software synthesis techniques, with application to autonomous driving, personal transport and space robotics. More information about the Programme Grant and related research activities can be found here:

You should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely-related field, with post-qualification research experience. Excellent knowledge of quantitative/probabilistic modelling, quantitative verification, game theory and controller synthesis, strong track record and national reputation in relevant publications, and ability and willingness to participate in the development of experimental software are essential.

The post, which is a full-time appointment funded by the department, is available from 1 August 2015 for up to 3 years (with possibility of extension for 2 additional years and promotion to Grade 8 depending on performance and track record in establishing an independent research profile), and has a salary on the University grade 07S (currently £30,434 to £37,394 p.a.). This includes membership of the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
