Finance Apprentice

Grade 1: £14,959 (incremental progression through successful completion of programme)

The Department of Computer Science has a unique opportunity for a well-organised and self-motivated individual to join the Finance team as an apprentice. The apprenticeship will last for 3 years, and during this time you will work alongside experienced colleagues, learning on-the-job. You will also study for relevant qualifications in Finance at Abingdon & Witney College.

This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain employment experience within a finance function while obtaining vocational qualifications. You will assist on a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: checking expenses claims, enabling payment of invoices including reconciling these to purchase orders, purchase requisitions and reconciling these to deliveries, and preparing internal and external sales invoices.

You will have a good standard of general education at GCSE level (or equivalent) including English and Maths (at grade C or above, or evidence of predicted grades). You will be a proficient user of IT (Microsoft Office), with attention-to-detail and high degree of accuracy. You will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for finance skills, and develop good working relationships with colleagues through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience of an accounts function is highly desirable.

The post which is a full-time appointment is funded by department, and has a salary on the University Grade 01S scale (£14,959). This includes membership of the Oxford Staff Pension Scheme and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
