Interests

As a multi-disciplinary researcher, Dr Aluna Everitt’s areas of interest and expertise lie across the fields of Human-Computer Interaction, Design, and Engineering. These include:

  • Shape-Changing Interfaces
  • Human-Robot Interaction
  • Cyber-Physical Systems
  • Wearable & Tangible Interfaces
  • User Experience (UX)
  • Robotics / Actuation
  • Digital Fabrication
  • Collaborative Design (Co-Design)

She has a particular interest in conducting both quantitative and qualitative research which combines a mix of engineering fabrication approaches for prototyping, together with collaborative design (co-design) to encourage users and experts from different domains to develop content and applications for the next generation of interactive hardware systems and interfaces (e.g., shape-changing displays and robotics).

Biography

Dr Aluna Everitt is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Cyber-Physical Systems group, led by Professor Niki Trigoni and Dr Andrew Markham. Prior, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Bristol Interaction Group (BIG Lab at the University of Bristol), specializing in developing fabrication approaches for novel and emerging technologies such as wearables, printed electronics, and shape-changing displays. Her PhD research at Lancaster University focused on understanding the purpose of shape-changing displays and interfaces as new and novel technology. With research experience across the fields of Human-Computer Interaction, Design, and Engineering her research vision is to bridge the gap between digital and physical spaces by utilizing digital fabrication for designing, developing, and evaluating the next generation of interactive and physical interfaces.
