Biography

I am a Senior Researcher in the Department of Computer Science at Oxford University. My research focuses on investigating the impact of algorithm-driven decision makings upon our everyday lives, with a particular emphasis on families and young children. For this, I take a human-centred approach, focusing on understanding real users' needs, in order to design technologies with tangible, real-world impacts.

Currently, I am leading the KOALA project and the EWADA project. I work closely with schools, children, families as well as technologists for children, to understand the technological, societal and regulatory challenges that we are facing, to inform national and international policymakers, technology designers and families.

I have recently been serving in the IEEE P2089 Age Appropriate Digital Services Framework Working Group and the CDEI Online Safety Data Initiative Expert Group. I was part of the 100 Brilliant Women in AI and Ethics global initiative 2019-20, to promote diversity and equality in this critical research area.

For further information about my research activities, latest outputs and invited talks please see my external web page.
