CHIST-ERA Call for 2015

The CHIST-ERA Consortium (European Coordinated Research on Long-term Challenges in Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies ERA-NET) is calling for research proposals in the following two areas:

User-Centric Security, Privacy and Trust in the Internet of Things – indicative budget is Euro 5,925,000

  • Terahertz Band for Next-Generation Mobile Communication Systems – indicative budget is Euro 4,675,000

The call deadline for both topics is 13 January 2016.   

Eligibility

  • The consortium must have a minimum of 3  partners located in at least 3 different eligible countries  (the expectation is that the consortium will have between 3 and 6 partners)
  • The consortium is balanced: no more than 60% of the total funding can be requested by any one country.
  • Research groups who are not eligible to receive funding from any organisation participating in the concerned topic may be part of a consortium if they are able to secure their own funding
  • Projects must have a duration of either 24 or 36 months.

 Timeline

  • 13 January 2016 – Deadline for proposal submission
  • July 2016 – Notification of accepted proposals
  • October 2016 – Projects start

Oxford Comic Con 2016 – call for papers

Not the usual call for papers …

Oxford Comic Con is inviting abstracts for its 2016 Conference which will be held at Examination Schools, 5-6 March 2016.

The conference will be exploring academic subjects relating to popular comic books, science fiction movies and other forms of popular culture.  It aims to use these media to convey academic research to the public in a fun and engaging way.Papers can take the form of short presentations, panels or debates and possible subjects include scientific debates behind the Force, Ant-Man, the Incredible Hulk, etc.  The choice is yours!

Toshiba Research Fellowship Programme

Applications for the Toshiba Research Fellowship Programme 2015 are now open. This scheme provides an excellent opportunity for PhD research students to gain a rare experience of working in a leading technology company’s R&D labs in Japan for up to 2 years, allowing them to conduct new research within their field and learn about key R&D techniques as well as about different country and workplace cultures.

To be eligible, you must:
— Be a PhD-level researcher
— Be of EU nationality
— Be based in a UK academic or Government institution at the time of application (studying or working)
— Have no more than 10 year’s post-Doctoral experience
— Have completed their PhD by the time they begin working for Toshiba in Japan.

The deadline for paper applications is 5th December 2014

Web Applications and Networking Call for Papers

The WSWAN’ 2015 is the 2nd world Symposium organized by ISET University, Tunisia, which will take place on the 21st-23rd March 2015. It addresses both practical and theoretical research in the areas of ad hoc networks, sensor networks, mesh networks and vehicular networks. Its main focus is on all issues from link layer up to the application layer, and will solicit academic, research, and industrial contributions.

A variety of papers are welcomed, including: Technical Papers presenting research and practical results, Position Papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, Survey Papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of the above topics, Short Papers on work in progress, and Panel Proposals. Researchers are encouraged to submit their contributions in both theoretical and practical aspects of the following tracks:

Call for Papers: IEEE Science and Information (SAI) Conference 2015
