Horizon 2020: Industrial Leadership – Upcoming Calls

Horizon20201The European Commission will soon be inviting proposals for it’s industrial leadership calls for Japan and South Korea. The Call is to open on the 20th October 2015 and close mid January 2016. Although very early on in the process, with more details to follow, the expected topics are as follows:

Japan:

— Next generation communication networks;
— Internet of things, cloud and big data platforms in social application contexts;
— Experimental testbeds on information-centric networking.

South Korea:

— Next generation communication networks;
— Internet of things joint research
— Federated cloud resource brokerage for mobile cloud services.

Proposals must take the form of research and innovation actions. These require participation by at least three legal entities, each established in a different EU member state or associated country.

Toshiba Research Fellowship Programme

Applications for the Toshiba Research Fellowship Programme 2015 are now open. This scheme provides an excellent opportunity for PhD research students to gain a rare experience of working in a leading technology company’s R&D labs in Japan for up to 2 years, allowing them to conduct new research within their field and learn about key R&D techniques as well as about different country and workplace cultures.

To be eligible, you must:
— Be a PhD-level researcher
— Be of EU nationality
— Be based in a UK academic or Government institution at the time of application (studying or working)
— Have no more than 10 year’s post-Doctoral experience
— Have completed their PhD by the time they begin working for Toshiba in Japan.

The deadline for paper applications is 5th December 2014
