Student and Research Staff Conference

Abstracts

Research Staff, DPhil students, MSc students & 4th year undergraduates are encouraged to submit micro abstracts for talks or posters. Any research topic covered by the Department of Computer Science is appropriate and it is perfectly acceptable to submit work that has been presented or submitted elsewhere. Presentations in previous years have covered new results, selected material from MSc dissertation, transfer or confirmation reports, or research proposals of general interest. The conference also serves as an excellent forum for first year students approaching Transfer of Status to present their work to a new audience ahead of their viva.

Micro-abstracts for this conference are now being accepted. These should be no more than 200 words, not including title or authors.

The deadline for submission of micro abstracts is: noon on Friday 24th April.

The authors of the best abstracts will then be asked to provide an expanded abstract of no more than two pages. The deadline for submission of extended abstracts is Friday 8th May. Please see the guidelines on what is required for both abstracts and posters.

The Selection Committee will review the extended abstracts and will select those for inclusion in the conference, either as posters or short talks (or both) and will provide notification of acceptance by Friday, 22nd May. Those invited to present talks will need to provide a camera-ready copy of their abstract by Friday, 5th June. Talks should be approx 10 minutes, allowing a further five minutes for questions.

There will be cash prizes for the best talk, the best abstract and the best poster for both research staff and students and the winners will be announced at the wine reception at the end of the conference.
