HEAT Database

We are currently coordinating with Higher Education Institutions across the UK to enable the outreach work undertaken to be recorded and evaluated with greater sophistication. The HEAT (Higher Education Access Tracker) database, previously administered by AimHigher, will enable schools and institutions to follow the destinations and journeys of the young people we work with and the impact and value of the programmes we run.

Student data will be stored on a database in accordance with the Data Protection Act and used to administer participation in the project. For research and monitoring purposes only, this data may also be shared with the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), Higher Education Statistics Agency or the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) and our partners including colleges, Higher Education Access Tracker service subscribers, Connexions and the national Data Service to help evaluate the effectiveness of this activity as part of the government policy to widen participation in higher education and to develop future policy. The project and its partners will not use records in a way that would affect students individually. We will not release data to anyone who is unauthorised.

To enable us to use the database to its full potential we require specific information about individual students who have taken part in our activities. We require: Student Name, Date of Birth and Post Code. Participation in the database is not obligatory for students or schools who have taken part in our outreach activity.
