Fully Funded Doctoral DeepMind Studentship

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford is currently looking for an outstanding candidate to fill one doctoral studentship position available from October 2020 on a 3.5 year fully funded DeepMind studentship led by Professor Shimon Whiteson.

The aim of the project is to perform fundamental research on the topic of deep reinforcement learning.  Potential topics include multi-agent reinforcement learning, meta reinforcement learning, and Bayesian reinforcement learning.  Potential application domains include robotics and video games.

This Studentship Project Description: Deep Reinforcement Learning

The successful candidate will serve as a DPhil student in the research group of Professor Whiteson. The project will focus on developing and analysing state-of-the-art algorithms for deep reinforcement learning (RL), with an emphasis on multi-agent RL, meta RL, and Bayesian RL.

The project will provide an annual stipend to the student of at least £15009 per annum for 3.5 years. The project will also cover the cost of course fees at home/EU level and international, travel to conferences and workshops, and provision for a laptop computer.

Applicants must satisfy the usual requirements for studying for a doctorate at Oxford. Candidates must also have good writing, communication and presentation skills (see the University's web pages on the DPhil in Computer Science for details).
