Senior Research Facilitator

Leaving date: 15th May 2019

Biography

I joined the University of Oxford in 2011 and in 2012 I took on the role of Research Facilitator in the Department of Computer Science. In this time my team has supported the submission of around 800 research applications and secured significant sums of research income from national, European and wider international funders, as well as industrial funders of research. In 2016/17 I took a one year secondment to Research Services, Science Area within Oxford. Here I gained an understanding of supporting applications across a wider science portfolio and gained essential experience in research contract negotiation. In 2017 I returned to Computer Science and was promoted to Senior Research Facilitator

As well as supporting applications for research funding, I have played a key role across the University in other ways. I started the Research and Innovation Support Network Conference in 2013 which is now an exciting annual fixture in the Oxford research support calendar, and in early 2018 I co-led AI @ Oxford.  This one day event showcased innovative research in artificial intelligence and machine learning across Oxford and was attended by over 140 delegates from industry, government, media and academia.

I have taken on the role of University Liaison Manager between Oxford and the Turing for 2 days per week and remain in my role as Senior Research Facilitator in Computer Science for the reamining 3 days per week.
