About OxWoCS

The Oxford Women in Computer Science Society (OxWoCS) aims to support and promote women in computer science. The society exists for all women in computer science, be they students, faculty, or staff. OxWoCS runs a number of academic, social, and career events throughout the year, including weekly coffee meetings, talks by distinguished female speakers, and industry sponsored events. The society provides networking opportunities and a support network comprising role models, mentors, and peers. OxWoCS exists to help enhance the quality of life for all members of the department.

The Grace Hopper Celebration is the World's Largest Gathering of Women Technologists. It is produced by the Anita Borg Institute and presented in partnership with ACM.

Yearly OxWoCS and the Department of Computer Science offer a scholarship for two people to attend the Grace Hopper Conference, this incliudes the cost of registration, all travel and subsistence.

The next Grace Hopper Conference will be held from 2-4 October 2019 in Florida, USA

Applications for this scholarship are open to all members of the University of Oxford, male or female. Applications for this scholarship usually open in July, with decisions made and delivered by August. Further details to follow.

Oxbridge Conference

The Women in Computer Science 7th Annual Oxbridge Conference will be held on Saturday 12th March 2020 in Cambridge.


Registrations are now open.


The deadline for abstract submission is 30th January 2020.
