Abstract

An increasing number of applications are relying on RDF, OWL and SPARQL for storing, publishing and querying data. SPARQL however, is not targeted towards end-users, and suitable query interfaces are needed. Faceted search is a prominent end-users oriented approach to data access; during the last decade it became a mainstream commercial technology ubiquitous in e-commerce (e.g., Amazon.com, Booking.com). This student’s project aims at development and implementation of novel algorithms and/or interfaces for faceted search over RDF databases enhanced with OWL ontologies. The student’s project will be conducted within the SemFacet project (www.cs.ox.ac.uk/isg/tools/SemFacet/).
