Summarizing Case Histories

Bryan Todd

1994, 11pp.

This paper explores some of the issues surrounding the abstraction of a summary from a patient's case history . A few simple design decisions are made that impose constraints on the abstraction function. The consequences of each design decision are investigated in turn. It is suggested that a suitable abstraction function can be implemented as a set of production rules together with a fixed subsumption relation (partial order) on facts in a case history.
