A model of the peripheral nervous system

Bryan S Todd

1993, 22pp.

A simple model of the peripheral nervous system of the human upper limb is presented. The model is a refinement of an earlier model that forms part of a diagnostic program to assist the localization of nerve lesions. The purpose of this work is both to simplify the mathematical description of the model, and to extend the model to include a more detailed representation of the distribution of nerve fibres. The numerical parameters in the model are derived from published experimental data by least-squares optimization, and the model is validated by comparison with further experimental data.
