Agent-based financial modelling

The traditional approach to understanding a financial system is to develop a mathematical model of the system - equations that describe its behaviour over time. Such models are inadequate to model complex networked systems. Agent-based modelling provides an alternative approach, which focusses on modelling individual agents in the system, allowing us to experiment with aspects of system behaviour (such as personal beliefs) that are impossible in traditional models.
