Leslie Fox honoured with blue plaque

Posted:

Today Leslie Fox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Fox), founding member of our department (in its original guise as the Oxford University Computing Laboratory) has been honoured with a blue plaque.

Oxford University Computing Laboratory was set up in 1957 and during this initial period the research efforts of the Laboratory were directed almost entirely towards numerical analysis. Leslie Fox was made Oxford University's first Professor of Numerical Analysis in 1963.

The plaque honouring Leslie can now be seen at the railway station at Dewsbury, where he was born and raised.
