Keynote and best paper award at 22nd International Conference on Database Theory (ICDT)

Research from the FDB group will be showcased at the 22nd International Conference on Database Theory (ICDT) and 22nd International Conference on Extending Database Technology (EDBT), to take place at the end of March 2019 in Lisbon.

Three department academics, Ahmet Kara, Dan Olteanu, and Haozhe Zhang, won the Best Paper Award at ICDT 2019 for their paper 'Counting Triangles under Updates in Worst-Case Optimal Time' (co-written with former Oxford colleague Milos Nikolic, now in Edinburgh, and Hung Ngo from RelationalAI).

Dan Olteanu has also been invited to give a joint ICDT/EDBT keynote lecture on learning models over relational databases.

Further Oxford co-authored papers accepted for ICDT 2019 include:

  • Boolean Tensor Decomposition for Conjunctive Queries with Negation.  Mahmoud Abo Khamis (RelationalAI), Hung Ngo (RelationalAI), Dan Olteanu, and Dan Suciu (University of Washington)
  • Datalog: Bag Semantics via Set Semantics.  Leopoldo Bertossi (RelationalAI), Georg Gottlob and Reinhard Pichler (TU Vienna).
