Posted:

A team of Oxford Computer Science students came first place in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest’s Northwest Europe regional heats (known as NWERC 2020). This qualifies them for the 45th world finals, which will take place in November 2022.

The members of the winning ‘Los Patrons’ team were Lukas Michel, Costin-Andrei Oncescu and Stefan Buliga. Two other teams from Oxford participated and placed 8th and 19th.

NWERC 2020 is an official regional contest in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. It draws students from colleges and universities throughout Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Luxembourg.

In the contest, teams of up to three students had to try and solve as many programming problems as possible from a given problem set. The goal of each team was to solve as many problems as possible within the five-hour time limit.
