In Memoriam: Captain James Anthony Townley

We were extremely saddened to hear of the untimely death of former student Captain James Anthony Townley while serving with the Royal Engineers in Afghanistan. James was an exemplary student and received a first class degree in Engineering and Computer Science at University College in 2001-5. He was also an accomplished rower, a leading member of the University College Boat Club. Head of the Computer Science Department Bill Roscoe, who was one of his college tutors said: "The way James was able to develop his sporting and academic talents so that both flourished was a model to all.  He was an outstanding person.".  Our thoughts are with James' family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
