euHeart: Integration of Cardiovascular Models for the Improved Management of In Silico Disease

The leading cause of death in the western world, Cardio-Vascular Disease (CVD) is responsible, annually, for 4 million deaths in Europe alone. The development of new computational modelling and clinical imaging techniques with the potential to be applied to diagnosis and treatment of CVD presents an opportunity for Oxford scientists to significantly impact the quality, and quantity, of life within the European community. euHeart aims to seize this opportunity, utilizing patient-specific cardio-vascular models to improve the scientific community's understanding, management and treatment of CVD. Bringing together 17 industrial and academic partners, this large-scale project combines expertise from researchers, clinicians and industrialists, to actively, and cooperatively, examine the ability of multi-scale, computational models to contribute to patient care and, ultimately, cure.
