Research

In addition to our commitment to teaching, the academic staff of the Programme are active researchers in the field of Software Engineering. Working with colleagues from leading institutions around the world, we investigate new theories, new techniques, and new technologies.

We see these two endeavours — education and research — as inseparable. Good education in Software Engineering must be informed by a thorough grasp of core technologies and latest developments. Good research in Software Engineering must be grounded in the reality and practical needs of practising software engineers, such as the students of the Software Engineering Programme. This interdependence between education and research mirrors our belief in Christopher Strachey's philosophy on the interdependence of practice and theory.
