Title: Silicon swords to software ploughshares: the software networking revolution
Abstract: The high-end networking that makes the Internet has historically depended on extremely exotic and expensive custom hardware.
But that is starting to change, and pure software-based networking is starting to become a meaningful part of both the Internet and massive data centers, opening up these walled gardens to anyone who can write code. This talk is an accessible introduction into why, and some interesting problems that have to be solved to enable software to connect the world.
Bio: The presenter is Director & CTO of Ensoft, whose experience includes helping to bring into existence the Guinness Book of Records' "World's Highest Capacity Internet Router".
Free food and drink will also be provided.
