Dr Christopher Richardson heads up Bournemouth University’s Cyber Security Unit (BUCSU), a multi-million pound enterprise of UK Security Practitioners, Lecturers and researchers in its dedicated synthetic cyber laboratories. The Unit is working towards a fusion of Enterprise, Research and Education in Security Engineering. He lectures on Information Assurance and framework leads the Unit’s Cyber Security MSc and BSc. He is developing the University’s Knowledge Exchange Partnerships with local enterprises, Innovation UK with the Unit’s Consultancy Practice. Recently he has started to build a Collaborative Cyber Policing Initiative with the SW Regional Police Force’s Organised Crime Unit and local Police Forces.

At the University Dr Richardson has started to develop greater awareness, skill training, expertise, Information Governance and research to the consequences of cyber insecurities, cyber essentials, ISO27000 compliance and building trustworthy solutions as well as outreaching to local schools and colleges concerning security education.

Previously, Dr Richardson taught security topics to military personnel at the Defence College of Communications and Information Systems and System Engineered, over 15 years, numerous telecommunication products and service, spending many of those years travelling and linking up the world’s satellite, terrestrial and subsea communication systems.

Dr Richardson started his career as an Avionics Technician with the Royal Air Force in 1980 and left the service in 1989 as RAF Engineering Officer (CE). Since leaving the RAF, he has Programme and Project Managed, gaining his Chartered Engineering in 1991 and filled management roles of a Chief Technical Officer, Vice President, CEO, Qualified Teacher (QTS) and Civil Servant.
