Swiftkey: "Doing practical language AI on a global scale and impact"

SwiftKey is the leading technology company developing smart keyboard apps for Android and iOS. SwiftKey applies AI to the problem of typing on touchscreens, learning from each user to accurately autocorrect and predict their next word - the company's software features on more than 250m devices worldwide and supports nearly 100 languages. This talk focuses on key challenges of mobile text input. First, I will introduce key areas of language AI, such as predictive text and machine translation. The talk will continue with mobile text input, its importance to users and the main challenges. Following that, I will share findings on comparing predictive text NLP tasks: Why is predictive text so difficult to get right? Moving on, I will talk about our latest development in language processing to equalise language performance. Finally, as deep learning is becoming the new standard of NLP, I will walk through recent deep learning methods for NLP.
