Synopsis: "In this session, Monzo's CEO will talk about building a bank from scratch, based on a Go microservices architecture and distributed databases. He'll touch on the Monzo journey, and how the company is building a developer-focussed API ecosystem."

Speaker: "Tom Blomfield is the CEO and co-founder of Monzo, a new smartphone-based bank. He studied Law at Oxford (2003-2008), during which time he was the technical cofounder of Boso.co.uk, an student marketplace. Boso was accepted onto Y Combinator in 2007.

In 2011 Tom founded GoCardless, an online Direct Debit payment processor, with 2 other Oxford alumni. GoCardless has raised $30m+ from Accel, Balderton, Passion and Y Combinator. It's now processing billions of pound of payments per year.

Tom was named one of the Top 5 Entrepreneurs under 30 in Europe by the European Commission in 2013."
