What will the future of the Industrial world will look like?

Ever heard about the concept of "Digital Twin"? Learn all you can do by sensing an asset's critical function The concept of Digital Twin stands for the abstract software representation of an industrial asset in the physical world. GE's current mission to bring more services and value to its customers is to build the relevant digital twin of customers' assets. These digital twins are the aggregation of new or pre-existing data related to the asset's design phase, manufacturing / production phase, operation phase or maintenance phase. The ability to perform this data collection over a whole fleet of assets can create substantial value allowing for instance to find the causation link between frequent outage pattern of assets of a given model and a specific manufacturing process modification. This "big picture" effect can only be implemented with the right infrastructure, which particularly includes the cloud & edge coupled software technologies. GE provides cloud and edge solutions through its Predix platform. You can find out more about Predix on https://www.predix.io

Robin Louvet is Predix Developers Program Manager for GE Digital Europe.
