Abstract:

An estimated £11bn is lost every year by UK individuals to online fraud. A common case is Advance Fee Fraud, in which victims receive unsolicited emails demanding a small upfront payment to secure a large windfall in their favour, which never materisalises.

Netcraft is an industry leader in fraud detection and countermeasures, protecting businesses and consumers in the UK and abroad. This talk presents insights into Netcraft's own methods of detecting and neutralising Advance Fee Fraud and similar attacks.
