Cyber Insurance Prudential Risks

Cyber insurance risk is the risk that insurance companies assume by underwriting insurance policies with underlying exposure to cyber incidents. This presentation will expand on the cyber insurance market in the UK, and the types of cyber insurance risk. It will also set out the Bank of England’s expectations from insurers for the prudent management of cyber insurance risk.

Alex Ntelekos is a senior manager in insurance supervision at the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). Alex has eight years of regulatory experience and has supervised a wealth of insurance firms within General Insurance. As part of his current role, Alex leads the PRA’s efforts on cyber underwriting risk for insurers. Prior to joining the Bank of England Alex worked as a catastrophe risk expert at Willis (now Willis Tower Watson), an insurance and reinsurance intermediary. Alex is a trained engineer by background and holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University
