Senior Researcher on Responsible Robotics for the Digital Economy: Robotips

Posted: 14th May 2021

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Professor Marina Jirotka’s team in the ongoing research study: RoboTIPS: Developing Responsible Robots for the Digital Economy. This interdisciplinary project runs until 2024 and brings together expert teams from Oxford and Bristol Robotics Lab to identify the ways in which social robots can be responsible technologies. The project combines conceptual work with the development and testing of an innovative design feature, the Ethical Black Box for social robots.

The role of Senior Researcher on the Fellowship is an integral one: it includes helping to shape key elements of the project, including its public engagement work; liaison with industrial stakeholders and the project funders; co-ordination of the project’s work across the two sites; independent research; and joint supervision of the project’s DPhil student. The successful candidate will also be invited to be the Research Lead in Professor Jirotka’s Responsible Technology Institute.

The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in Computer Science, Social Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline, a strong publication record, together with knowledge or experience of Responsible Innovation theory and processes, and expertise interacting with professional stakeholders in research projects.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 14th June 2021.
