Department of Computer Science, Wolfson Building, Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QD

The Glasstone Fellowship
Full Time, Fixed term contract for 3 years from 1 October 2022

Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 per annum, with a discretionary range to £44,706.

The Department of Computer Science is pleased to invite applications for the Glasstone Fellowship in Computer Science. This prestigious post, is a three-year postdoctoral fellowship and is  supported by the Glasstone Bequest, which was set up to encourage scientists at an early stage of their career to follow their research interests at Oxford, one of the world’s leading science universities. Preference will be given to candidates who are at an early stage in their research career and who have not already held an independent fellowship.

The Fellow will receive active mentoring from members of the Department but will be encouraged and expected to set an independent research agenda in one or more of the research areas of the Department, broadly construed. To that end, they will have access to substantial travel and research funds and participate fully in the Department’s vibrant programme of visitors and seminars.

Applications are especially welcome from women and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts at Oxford.

Candidates should be completing or have recently (i.e. normally within the past 3 years) completed a doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.  Applications must be made online. Candidates will be asked to complete an Application Form, upload a CV and a two-page statement of their research plans, and are encouraged, where appropriate, to identify members of the Department with overlapping research interests. Candidates must also arrange for three supporting reference letters to be sent by email to glasstone.fellowship@cs.ox.ac.uk . Applications without the application form, CV and maximum two page research statement along with three supporting references will not be considered. The name of the referees should also be provided on the Application Form.

All application materials including reference letters must be received by noon on Monday 29th November, 2021. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a remote interview, expected to take place on 17th and 18th January 2022. The successful candidate will be notified by email by the end of January 2022.
