University of Oxford top for Computer Science in the World for eighth year running

The University of Oxford has topped the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject for Computer Science for the eighth year in a row, according to the newly released 2026 subject tables.
The Computer Science subject ranking applies the same performance indicators used in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, with adjustments tailored specifically to the discipline. The 2026 Computer Science ranking evaluates excellence across a range of areas, including software development and engineering; artificial intelligence and machine learning; and cybersecurity and networks. Oxford also achieved the highest global score for teaching (99.9/100).

The 2026 subject ranking assesses 1,165 institutions across 84 countries and territories. It is based on 18 performance indicators designed to assess excellence in research, teaching, international outlook, and industry engagement. The University of Oxford as an institution has also been named the top university globally in the overall Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the tenth consecutive year - a record-breaking achievement.
