Oxford ranked Europe's leading centre for Computer Science research

The 2012 Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities, ranks Oxford first in Europe for computer science research.

The 2012 Shanghai rankings, released on 15 August 2012, aggregate several measures of research performance to derive a single  overall research quality metric.  The rankings are widely used, and generally acknowledged to be one of the best available  indicators of research quality.  The 2012 ranking places Oxford nineteenth in the world overall: the top-ranked European centre for computer science research.  

Oxford has maintained its position in the computer science rankings.  After Oxford, Cambridge is ranked 34th for computer science, while Imperial, Edinburgh, and Manchester are ranked 51st equal for computer science. Oxford University maintains its overall position in the rankings, coming in at 10th in the world for the second year running.
