The Cyber Security Group within the Department of Computer Science is currently seeking a summer intern to work on the Identity Security in Cyberspace (ISC) project (http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/projects/identitysecurity/index.html). This project is generally focused on understanding the range of security and privacy risks to an individual’s identity based on what is shared online. Within this internship, the student will primarily be involved in investigating the extent to which analytics developed within the Group to characterise online identities, can be used to detect bots in social networks. This work will focus especially on Twitter and Facebook, and consider various different analytical methods to assist bot detection; there is scope within the project to utilise machine learning, as well as other analytical techniques depending on the interest and expertise of the intern. The intern will work with researchers and professors in the Cyber Security Group, and the internship post is available for up to 12 weeks.
