Abstract
Many real-world scenarios exhibit various degrees of uncertainty in the relationships between the objects present in XML documents; for example, uncertainty naturally arises when XML data is exchanged between independent sources, or when it is constructed from noisy sources, as is the case in open information extraction and sensor reading.
This project will address the problems of (1) representing uncertainty in XML and (2) adapting standard XML processing tasks, like query processing and schema validation, to the new representation formalism.
