Second year Group Design Practical

As part of their second year of study, our undergraduate students form small groups of 4-6 and partner with an industrial sponsor to design and deliver a 'real-world' software solution to a problem proposed by their sponsor. Previous examples have included designing an augmented reality platform to display real time financial information, using pollution data in large cities to define alternative, 'clean' route planning, right through to utilising machine learning to rapidly identify lesions from medical imaging data.

As a project sponsor you will meet with your students to discuss the design brief and act as a co-supervisor to aid students through the design and delivery of their project. Projects are then presented during an afternoon series of group presentations and networking.

This is a fun and rewarding project for industry partners to work with students and help develop problem solving ability. The time requirement from industry sponsors is minimal, however most find that spending more time with their team is rewarding for all parties involved.
