The studentship is sponsored by L-3 Communications and is limited to students eligible to pay home/eu fees

Supervisor: Professor Kasper Rasmussen

Start Date: January 2017

End Date: September 2020

PROJECT

We are looking for a top student in computer science or electrical engineering to work on Remote Attestation of embedded systems. The project is focused on exploring and developing a security service called Remote Attestation which aims to provide mechanisms to verify the internal state of a remote device. This is achieved by asking devices to prove that they are in a certain state, which requires new and interesting security protocols.

The student will be part of the Computer Science Department at the University of Oxford. It covers university and college tuition fees, as well as a tax-free stipend of approximately £16,000 per year, for four years. Additionally there is a budget for travel, equipment, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidate is expected to have a strong background in computer science or electrical engineering, and a keen interest in security. Candidates must have good written, communication, and organizational skills, and satisfy the usual requirements for a doctorate at Oxford:

Proficiency in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not strictly required: Protocol design; Embedded systems; IoT infrastructure; Control systems.

HOW TO APPLY

There is no deadline for applying. We will continue to process applications until a suitable candidate is found, and candidates are therefore recommended to apply online as soon as possible:
