The opportunity has arisen to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Computer Science, working as part of the Professional Masters team. This team comprises lecturers and professors who teach modules, supervise students, and provide academic support for a programme of advanced, professional education in the areas of software engineering, data science, and software and systems security. 

You will develop and deliver taught modules, set and mark written assignments, and supervise students on the part-time, postgraduate Professional Masters Programme.  The module content and student expectations are at the leading edge of professional practice, and you will establish and maintain a good understanding of the connection between emerging practice and underlying theory.  You will provide academic support for activities such as student admissions, curriculum development, and University examinations. 

You should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant subject, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, Applied Statistics, or Mathematics, have a good understanding of theory and current industrial practice in software, data, or security engineering.  You should have an aptitude and a genuine enthusiasm for advanced, professional education in these areas.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 18th June 2018. 

The post is departmentally-funded, and has a salary on the University grade 08S scale (currently £39,992 – £47,722 per annum).  It includes membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
