Research Assistant in Technology-enabled intervention techniques in at-home parenting interventions

Fixed term for 3 months from 17 June 2019

Grade 6: £28,660 - £34,189 p.a.

The Department of Computer Science has a vacancy for a Research Assistant in Technology-enabled intervention techniques in at-home parenting interventions, on a fixed-term contract for up to 3 months starting from 17 June 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Reporting to Professor Max Van Kleek and Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt, you will be conducting research on developing new technology-enabled interventions techniques in the context of at-home parenting interventions.

Your duties will also include design, recruitment, data collection, and qualitative analysis of studies utilising interview, co-design workshops, and technology-probe methodologies. Ability to develop and lead research study protocol with only limited guidance will be key.

You should hold an MSc or higher in Developmental Psychology or related discipline, have experience with user-centred design process, including co-design workshop methods, and with qualitative and mixed methods data collection in the homes of participants, including experience of carrying out significant studies, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the parenting and socio-emotional learning discipline to work within an established research programme. Experience with developing technology-enabled interventions within the socio-emotional domain is highly desirable.
